In November 1967 Brian Faulkner assisted by Terry Bodily began recording a weekly programme onto tape in his garden shed.

In November 1971 a room in B basement of Medway Hospital was converted to a studio and programmes were broadcast two nights a week. During the following years, various fund raising activities took place.

By 1973 more staff were taken on and programmes were being broadcast 5 nights a week. The old 60 watt amp was replaced by a 1000 watt one.

Throughout the 70?s the programs became more adventurous. Pantomimes were written and recorded - 1972 Cinderella, 1973 Pure White and the 7 DJ?s.

Fund raising events included: Sponsored walk, Floats in Carnivals, Fetes, etc.

In 1977 we broadcast from the Pentagon Centre and in 1979 we broadcast for a whole week from Hempstead Valley.

In the 80?s several fetes were attended. More week long broadcasts from Hempstead Valley and two days at the Dickens festival.

Christmas 1982 saw the first of the OB?s and

collections at Safeways.

Local firms and organisations have helped out over the years by donating equipment.

A donation of £1500 for a mixer from the City Councils Lottery Fund.

In August 1983 we moved into our new studio which was officially opened a few months later by Russ Conway.

Christmas 1983 saw the now annual OB at Safeways, Strood with an unusual addition to the line up of presenters.

In September 1994 the Hospital Radio Hi-De-Hi gang attended the Gillingham Carnival.

Another studio was opened on 30 th March 1988. This allowed programs to be recorded in one studio whilst programs were broadcast from the other.

Things have progressed through the 90's. New mixers have been installed and the equipment updated. As we move on into the 2000's, the programs are played off computer.
